WD Blue UltraSlim hard drives can hold 500 GB of data. They are the first to use a new type of compact SFF-8784 connectors: These connectors provide power and data transfer between the controller and the SATA drive.

In the disks implemented proprietary technology StableTrac: mount the motor shaft at both ends of the drive to improve performance by stabilizing the rotation of the plates and reduce the impact of external vibrations. In this case, the head positioning mechanism with two actuators provides a significant improvement in precision placement of the head assembly over the disk tracks.

The manufacturer notes that the small thickness of the hard drives Blue UltraSlim, and a compact interface connector is open to developers of computer platforms, a wide range of possibilities. Furthermore, due to the compactness of 36% could reduce the weight of storage compared to the standard 9.5 millimeter discs.

WD Blue UltraSlim hard drives will be used in Ultrabooks, tablets and other portable devices. Price - about $ 90.
