WD XE: hard drives with interface Serial Attached SCSI
Western Digital has introduced the XE series of hard drives for storage systems and enterprise-class hardware.
Aggregators are based on 2.5-inch hard disk drives includes a special adapter 3.5 inch. To connect to the PC interface is a Serial Attached SCSI (SAS), which provides bandwidth up to 6 Gbit /s.
Spindle Speed - 10 000 rev / min. According to the manufacturer, the disks have a 67% lower power consumption compared with a 3.5-inch hard drive with a spindle speed of 15,000 rev / min.
XE-series drives can hold 300, 450, 600 and 900 GB. Buffer size is 32 MB. Average claimed MTBF (MTBF) - two million hours.
Deliveries have already begun , they cost from 230 to 600 dollars depending on the version.
